Mumbai: Actor-writer and producer Pallavi Chaterjee shares her point of view on the occasion of World Health Day. When asked about the definition of fitness, she says, “We have grown up hearing ‘Health is Wealth.’ Some have heard and believed in it, while others feel the need to practice it.
I am happy to see more and more people becoming conscious about their health and fitness. We also have exposure to experts, qualified trainers, nutritionists, etc. But it is also dangerous to hear, see, and follow blindly what we watch on social media. Everyone has started talking about everything, so I feel one needs to be qualified and an expert to comment on ‘health and fitness.’
Pallavi, who is an excellent cook, believes one can never go wrong with home-cooked food, especially the way our mothers and grandmothers used to prepare it. She adds, “I am totally against packaged and frozen food. Anything that is heavily advertised should be avoided. Also, we Indians tend to overeat. Actually, we need very little food for our body, especially when eating the right kind of food. What to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat is very important.”

Somy Ali Highlights the Importance of Sleep, Discipline, and Gratitude
Apr 6, 2026When asked, with increasing screen time, what small changes people can adopt to reduce its impact on physical well-being, she says, “Physical activity is essential. One should practice some kind of exercise and walk for 20 minutes after every meal. Stay active from time to time; it keeps your mind and body healthy. Exercise, meditate, practice yoga, and engage in physical activities like swimming. Keep happy people around you and keep yourself happy.”
Pallavi shares that nowadays people are aware of many things, but they still neglect and take their body for granted. “One should be disciplined, which pays in the long run.”
Pallavi, who will be seen next in Nikhil Advani’s The Revolutionaries, suggests a simple lifestyle change that can benefit all of us. She says, “Sleep is extremely important for our health. It heals our body and mind. Never compromise on sleep.” She adds, “One more thing I would like to tell everyone is that water is very important for us, but very few people are aware of how and when to drink water, and in the right proportion. Stay blessed, stay happy, stay healthy.”
