The actress recently shared a deeply touching moment when her son Reyansh chose to donate his very first earning to an NGO working for deaf-blind people. For Kanika, the gesture was far more meaningful than the amount itself, as it reflected the values she and her family have tried to nurture in him.
Talking about the moment, Kanika says she was genuinely touched to see what Reyansh decided to do with his first earning. She shares, “As a mother, you feel proud when your child achieves something, but I think you feel even prouder when you see what he chooses to do with that achievement. Reyansh decided to donate his first earning to an NGO working for deaf-blind people, and honestly, that touched me deeply. It made me feel that somewhere, all the values we have spoken about at home have reached him.”

She says, “His first earning could have been spent on anything he wanted, and I would have been happy because he had earned it himself. But the fact that he thought of giving it to people who need support made me extremely emotional. It was such a pure and beautiful thought that, as a mother, I could only feel grateful and proud.”
The actress further reveals that moments like these make her realise that parenting is ultimately about the values children carry with them when they step outside the home. “We keep telling our children about kindness, compassion and being sensitive towards people around us, but you never know how much of it they are actually absorbing. When I saw Reyansh take this decision on his own, I realised that he understood those lessons in his own way. That feeling is priceless for a parent,” she says.
Kanika believes that giving back should come from the heart and not from a desire for recognition. “I don't think kindness should ever be about showing people that you have done something good. It should come naturally. What made me happiest was that Reyansh didn't do this for applause. He simply wanted to contribute in whatever little way he could. That, for me, is the real meaning of upbringing. If your child grows up to be a compassionate human being, you have already given them something much more valuable than anything material,” she concludes.
