Mumbai: Actor Adivi Sesh marked India’s Independence Day celebrations in New York by participating in the grand India Day Parade on Madison Avenue alongside New York Governor Kathy Hochul, joining the Indian-American community in celebrating India’s rich heritage, freedom and national pride.
Organised by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) NY-NJ-CT-NE, the annual parade brought together members of the Indian diaspora, community leaders, elected representatives and cultural groups to commemorate India’s Independence Day and showcase the country’s diverse cultural heritage.
On the morning of August 16, Sesh participated in the parade alongside Governor Kathy Hochul, riding the America 250 float alongside elected officials. From the main podium, he also joined the celebrations as 55 floats passed through Madison Avenue, greeting participants and the thousands who had gathered to mark the occasion.

To see the Tricolour, hear the cheers of the Indian community and celebrate our heritage on Madison Avenue, alongside Governor Kathy Hochul and so many distinguished leaders, was truly an honour. India’s story is one of resilience, diversity and pride, and moments like these remind us how deeply our identity and our roots connect us, no matter where we are in the world. I feel grateful to have been a part of this celebration and to witness the Indian spirit being celebrated so proudly on an international stage.”
The parade served as a vibrant celebration of the enduring cultural connection between India and its global diaspora, bringing together people from across communities to honour India’s journey, traditions and contributions around the world.
For Sesh, the celebration added another memorable moment to his Independence Day engagements in New York, as he joined the Indian-American community in expressing pride in the nation’s heritage and its enduring spirit of freedom.
