This is definitely not a part of Indian culture: Srikant Dwivedi on videos of women bathing and changing clothes during Maha Kumbh being sold online

A police complaint has been filed against offenders who are selling videos of women devotees taking a dip in the holy water at the Maha Kumbh and changing their clothes. Actor Srikant Dwivedi, who recently led the show Lakshmi Narayan and currently plays the role of Lord Vishnu in the mythological show Shiv Shakti-Tap Tyag Tandav, feels that since the country has no strict punishments for such crimes, people have no fear.

He said, "The problem I see here is that people do not get seriously punished for such actions, and that is why they continue to happen. When there is no strict punishment that can create fear in people’s minds, these activities will keep occurring."

"I don’t understand the mindset or values of such individuals—how can someone stoop so low? I recently came across the fact that some people are selling such things for money, which is absolutely disgraceful," he added.

He pointed out that whoever is involved in this, whether a man or a woman, must be punished very strictly. "There should be an example set for others so that such incidents stop happening. I don’t know how low a human being can fall. This is definitely not a part of Indian culture," he said.

"It is shocking that in such a holy place, where people go to wash away their sins, such sinful acts are taking place. I am truly surprised. Of course, there are all kinds of people in this world, but those who engage in such shameful activities are very few. However, their actions bring shame to all of humanity," he added.

He further stressed that a strict and severe punishment is necessary for such crimes otherwise it will never stop. "And when I say strict punishment, I mean something that truly makes an impact—even if it means publicly exposing their wrongdoing. Only then will such crimes stop. This is my opinion, and I firmly believe in it," he said.

"Without such serious action, these activities will continue. Once the culprit is found, they must be dealt with very strictly," Srikant ended.
