Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, known for his work on Masaan, Homebound draws inspiration from the 2020 New York Times article "A Friendship, a Pandemic and a Death Beside the Highway" by Basharat Peer. The narrative follows two childhood friends from northern India who aspire to become police officers. As they gear up for the national police exam, they face societal pressures and personal challenges that put their friendship to the test. The screenplay, co-written by Ghaywan, Peer, and Sumit Roy, promises a grounded story that delves into complex emotions.
