Sunjoy Waddhwa’s Sphereorigins is set to unveil Salakaar, an edge-of-your-seat spy thriller hitting JioCinema and JioHotstar on August 8. Directed by Faruk Kabir, the series explores the raw, imperfect fight of a man learning to become a hero—every punch and every fall driven by genuine emotion rather than flashy choreography.
Filmmaker Faruk Kabir insists that action isn’t a formula; it’s an “emotional crescendo.” Rather than relying on elaborate choreography, he prefers to shoot fights himself to preserve their raw intensity. “Every punch, every chase, every fall is an extension of a feeling—love, fear, rage, even heartbreak,” Kabir explains.
Drawing on his experience with stunts in the Khuda Haafiz films opposite Vidyut Jammwal, Kabir recounts telling Jammwal to “fight like a broken guy from Lucknow would.” He believes that grounding action in lived-in truth brings audiences closer to the character’s inner world.
