Batwara 1947 Box Office Day 3: Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta Film Finds Its Pace After a Slow Start

Batwara 1947 didn’t exactly make waves at the box office when it premiered on August 14, but it has certainly picked up steam over the weekend. The film, featuring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, raked in Rs 5.75 crore on its opening day, and then saw a significant boost on Saturday.

On Day 2, Batwara 1947 grossed about Rs 13.50 crore nett in India. This impressive surge coincided with Independence Day, which seems to have resonated well with audiences, especially given the film's focus on the Partition of India.

As it heads into its first Sunday, the film has accumulated Rs 20.65 crore nett so far. Early estimates for Day 3 indicate around Rs 1.40 crore already rolling in, but the final numbers are expected to climb as the day unfolds. The film is also aiming to hit the Rs 30 crore mark by the end of its opening weekend.

A significant draw for Batwara 1947 is the reunion of Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi. Their past collaborations on classics like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak have made this reunion a key part of the film's allure.

Adding to the nostalgia is Preity Zinta’s return to the big screen after several years, sharing the spotlight with Sunny Deol. The cast also features Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, and Abhimanyu Singh.

However, Batwara 1947 is up against tough competition from Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, which has had a much stronger start at the box office. Additionally, Spider Man, Brand New Day continues to perform well in theaters, making the battle for screens and audiences even fiercer.

Despite the challenges, Batwara 1947 has managed to shift the narrative after its opening day. The leap from Rs 5.75 crore to Rs 13.50 crore in just one day is a promising sign. The big question now is whether the film can maintain that momentum once the Independence Day weekend wraps up.
