Holi, the festival of colours, is celebrated with great enthusiasm across India. People smear each other with vibrant hues, dance to the beat of dhol, and indulge in mouth-watering delicacies. This year, &TV artists Neha Joshi, Yogesh Tripathi, and Shubhangi Atre shared their favourite Holi delicacies from their hometowns and how they plan to celebrate the festival.

Neha Joshi, who plays Yashoda in Doosri Maa, hails from Maharashtra but will be celebrating Holi in Jaipur this year. She plans to explore the city and witness the Elephant Festival, where elephants are dressed in rugs and ornaments and painted with bright colours. Although she will miss her favourite Holi delicacy, Puran Poli, she plans to make it herself and serve it to her extended family. Puran Poli is a sweet, fried flatbread stuffed with yellow gram and sugarcane jaggery, which symbolises the festival’s agrarian origins as a harvest festival.

Yogesh Tripathi, who plays Daroga Happu Singh in Happu ki Ultan Paltan, hails from Uttar Pradesh, where Holi is a two-day festival celebrated with great fervour. He loves eating gujiya, a classic North Indian sweet made of crisp, flaky pastry filled with khoya and nuts. This year, he plans to prepare gujiya himself and spend time playing colours with his wife and kids in their building’s swimming pool, which gets filled with coloured water during Holi.
