Mumbai witnessed a grand celebration as People’s Arts Centre organised the 12th Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Achievement Awards 2023 on February 26, 2023, at Hotel Meluha, The Fern in Powai. The charitable organisation, which has been active for 43 years, felicitated achievers from different walks of life, bringing together people from different parts of India.
Gopkumar Pillai, the founder and secretary of People’s Arts Centre, organised the spectacular event, which was attended by renowned personalities such as Dr. Pradeep Vyas, Additional Chief Secretary, Maharashtra, Bansi Dhurandhar, Director of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association, and Dr. Sunder Rajdeep, Head, Communication and Journalism, Mumbai University, who graced the occasion as the chief guest and guests of honour, respectively.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Achievement Awards have become a prestigious recognition for achievers in their respective fields, with warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s name associated with the award. Recipients expressed their gratitude to Gopkumar Pillai for organising the event and recognising their work.
The awardees included notable personalities such as Neena Gupta, Nitin Desai, Rohit Shetty, Shekhar Suman, Amit Tyagi, Apoorva Kawade, Ashok Kumar Verma, Benazir Nazar, Chandrakant Agrawal, Davinder Singh Rajput, and Ganapatti Jayaraman. The event also felicitated Harish G Amin, Isha Jadhav, Koruth P Koshy, Narendra A Patil, Pallavi Sadaanand Raut, Priyanka Kothari, Rajan Thomas, Rajendra Prasad Dalmia, Rekha Chirnerkar, Sachin Menon, Satish M Pradhan, Shaji Krishnan, Shraddha More, Shifa Shaikh, Vaman N Holla, Varghese Daniel, Vinod Pillai, and Vishwanath G. Pawar.
Mr. Gopkumar Pillai, who has been organising the event for the last 12 years, expressed his happiness on making the event grander each passing year. He stated that the primary motive behind the event is to unite deserving personalities and recognise their contributions in their respective fields, irrespective of caste and religion.
Dr. Sunder Rajdeep acknowledged the significance of the event, and Dr. Pradeep Vyas lauded Gopkumar Pillai’s efforts in promoting nationalism. “After knowing Gopkumar Pillai’s work, I was overwhelmed to be the guest of honour at the event. I congratulate Pillai Ji for organising the event and recognising people’s work. I hope to attend more events like these,” he said.
Amit Tyagi, a recipient of the prestigious award and a well-known journalist from Aaj Tak, expressed his gratitude towards the people of Maharashtra, where he has been working for the last 20 years, and towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He took blessings from everyone present at the event after winning the award.
