Actress Namita Lal, known for her powerful performances in films like Before Life After Death, Lihaaf, Country Of The Blind, Oxygen, and Football – The Goal, to name a few, and will soon be seen in Inn Galiyon Mein starring Jaaved Jaaferi, is embracing the spirit of Maha Shivratri with deep gratitude and reverence. After spending many years abroad, returning to India and experiencing its vibrant cultural celebrations has been nothing short of a blessing for the actress.
“Like all other festivals in India, MahaShivratri is very special for many people and for me because after many, many years of being abroad, coming here and experiencing these amazing celebrations is something that I feel blessed about,” Namita shared. “I am very spiritual in my attitude towards life and all of these things have a special meaning for me because I am now part of these amazing cultures and amazing celebrations that I have just received in my life. I just love it. I love experiencing it with my friends. Many of them fast, many of them go to temples.”
Although she doesn’t observe traditional fasting, Namita has her own unique way of connecting with the divine energy of the day. “I believe in the energy of Shiva, I believe in the absolute supreme energy of Maha Shivratri. I do not fast, but I do my own fasting regime in any case. But I enjoy the energies of these occasions, especially Maha Shivratri. I think it’s the time that the whole universe experiences amazing energy, and I will relish it, enjoy it. It’s a time for contemplation, meditation, moving around, walking, running, exercising, anything that lifts the energy upwards. It’s what I’ll practice today.”
For Namita, Maha Shivratri is not just a day of spiritual awakening but also a reminder to spread love and compassion. “I’d encourage everyone to do a kind act, no matter how small. It could be feeding someone, supporting those in need, or simply showing kindness.”
