Salman Khan found himself in a bit of a pickle on Koffee With Karan when asked a straightforward question: who impressed him more, Ranbir Kapoor in Animal or Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar? While he didn’t declare a clear winner, his thoughts on Ranveer were definitely noteworthy.
During a rapid-fire segment, Karisma Kapoor pressed Salman to pick between the two performances. He responded by praising both actors, insisting that their performances were simply too different to compare. When Karisma labeled his answer as diplomatic, Salman was quick to push back.

Oct 15, 2026Salman pointed out that Ranveer typically goes all out, making his performances feel larger than life. However, in Dhurandhar, he had to rein in that energy. Salman felt that this restraint demonstrated how secure Ranveer was in his role, which was a genuine compliment to the actor’s ability to step outside the box of what audiences usually expect from him.
This is where the debate between Ranveer and Ranbir gets particularly intriguing. Ranbir has garnered a lot of buzz for his portrayal of the aggressive and unpredictable lead in Animal. His performance has sparked mixed reactions, with some viewers lauding his acting while others have raised questions about the character itself. In contrast, Ranveer has been celebrated for revealing a different facet of himself in Dhurandhar.
While Salman didn’t outright say that Ranveer was better than Ranbir, it wouldn’t be fair to label it a clear win for either. However, his detailed praise for Ranveer certainly gives fans plenty to discuss, especially since comparisons between the two actors are so prevalent.
As for their upcoming projects, Ranbir is gearing up for Ramayana Part One, followed by Love And War, while Ranveer is busy with Pralay. Both actors have exciting ventures on the horizon, but for now, Salman’s comments have added another layer to the ongoing conversation. He may not have picked a favorite, but Ranveer definitely walked away with a standout compliment.
