The film's success not only marked Kakkad's entry into the world of impactful cinema but also showcased his ability to bring emotional depth to even the simplest of stories. Subsequently his film Acharyachakit and shows like Indori Ishq and Dharavi Bank, earned him rave reviews.
“Cinema for me is a medium to express the unseen and unspoken. With each of my work, it has always been the story first and then everything else follows. I don’t think I can function in any other manner.” He says speaking about choosing his subjects.
Beyond Raanti, Kakkad is also developing a major Hindi feature film, when quizzed about it he says “I have signed with Sanjay Gupta to direct a feature for him and there is a book I am adapting with a production house. Both of them are starkly different stories and I’ll share details soon”
