The intent should be to bring about a change and not make money: Sharmila Cirvante on choosing healing as a career

Natural-born psychic, certified spiritual healer, automatic writer, and spirit guide communicator, Sharmila Cirvante feels that if one chooses healing as a career, for it to be successful, it should be with the right intent and that is, to heal. She stressed that social media sometimes sends a very wrong message about the healing profession, making it all about minting money quickly. She said that healing is about working with someone's energy, and how you handle that will determine the outcome. Hence healers should be very empathetic and compassionate and like most careers, focus on solutions instead of making it about business.

She said, "The advice I would give to someone who wants to walk the healing path is to do it with sincerity and humility. That does not mean you shouldn’t charge a fee – let’s be real, even healers have homes to run – but start with the intent of healing. Start with the intent of wanting to do good in the world and of trying to make a difference to the person you are healing."

Healing modalities vary and before pursuing one, people should ask themselves if it resonates with them and are they learning that modality to truly help people or looking at it only as a money-spinning career? She said, "Healing is a sensitive profession; you are working with someone's energy, someone's mental and emotional state, and these are very sensitive issues. The messages you communicate can have a great impact on that person's life. You don't really want to be saying the wrong things just because you want to make a certain amount of money. "

"The intent is most important, your success depends on it. Remember, there is a higher power watching us. If the intent is wrong, everything else will go wrong. If you want to be a healer because, 'Oh, I want to make a lot of money because I am seeing a lot of healers saying this on social media these days', it sends out the wrong message," she added.

Asked if training, certification, and mentorship are important in becoming a healer, she said, "Our gurus, sadhus and some spiritual leaders have not had any certification, and they still have a powerful influence and produce results. I think having a mentor is important as they help you channelise your innate abilities. A certain amount of training is important because you do need to do the inner work before you actually do the external work."

"Certification to a certain extent helps in terms of segregating the ones who are real from the ones who are unreal, but having said that, that is not proof of the fact that you are a good healer," she added.

Irrespective of the modality the healer follows, Sharmila believes that every healer must follow certain rituals themselves. She shared a few daily practices that help her stay aligned as a healer. "Aura protection and grounding is a daily must. I do a Chakra Dhyan every morning to align my chakras to keep me balanced and focused and to also stay sharp on my intuition. Apart from that, there are few meditations and sadhanas that I do depending on the healing assignments I have during the day. And yes, a certain amount of breath work is also important," she ended.
