Paresh Rawal Calls Out Ranveer Singh's Acting Approach in Padmaavat

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has voiced his concerns about Ranveer Singh's acting style in the 2018 film Padmaavat. In a past interview, Rawal took issue with the lengths some actors go to in order to embody their characters, using Ranveer's portrayal of Alauddin Khilji as a case in point.

Rawal pointed out that it's problematic for actors to lose sight of the line between reality and their roles. He questioned why some feel the need to resort to extreme actions, like drinking, to get into character. "Let me ask you, no matter how much you drink, you still end up sleeping on your own bed, right? That's the reality," he remarked.

He also challenged Ranveer's assertion that his character lingered with him long after filming wrapped up. "It's not right to say you got so deep into the role that you might stab someone," he added, stressing the importance of keeping personal life separate from acting.

Padmaavat, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was a much-anticipated film that stirred up plenty of controversies during its making. The portrayal of Alauddin Khilji faced backlash for being too glamorized, while Shahid Kapoor's character, Maharawal Ratan Singh, didn't get as much attention.

Kangana Ranaut, who was said to have been offered the role of Padmavati, recently shared that she turned it down because she didn't want to just "play dress-up." Her remarks ignited discussions about how the film depicted its female lead, with some online users noting that her main role seemed to be about looking beautiful.

The film's re-release in theaters last month didn't meet expectations, leading to more conversations about its cultural impact and artistic value. Regardless of the controversies, Padmaavat stands out in Indian cinema for its lavish sets, detailed costumes, and unforgettable performances.
