Anita Pradhan, currently essaying a doting mother-in-law, Malti Devi, in &TV’s family drama Doosri Maa, celebrates her birthday on Oct 11th. Anita, who hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and is a mother of two kids, talks about her role and birthday celebrations.
About her character in &TV's Doosri Maa, actor Anita Pradhan says, "I am playing Ashok's mother, Malti Devi. She is a typical and traditional woman with patriarchal values because that is all she has known in her life. She has always lived under her husband's thumb and has only started answering him after her elder son became independent and successful. She has a unique relationship with Yashoda, who plays the saas role but also likes her. She runs Yashoda down at home to keep her ego but outside, she always shows off that she has the most intelligent and smart bahu. Malti Devi has ambivalent emotions about her younger daughter-in-law, whom she dislikes for refusing to help with housework. Still, she keeps her annoyance to herself most of the time because the hope of having a male heir from her is stronger. I am enjoying playing this unique character filled with lots of emotions.”
Talking about her birthday celebrations, she adds, "This year, it is a working birthday for me, which I will be celebrating with the entire cast and crew. This year has been a huge blessing as I bagged a role in a show shot in my hometown, which is a win-win situation. After the pack up, I have dinner plans with my family in the evening. We have always had a tradition of having something special cooked at home on birthdays. It has usually been making one’s favourite dish and pampering them with gifts and outings. But since I am working that day, I intend to cook special Jaipuri Srikhand Puri for the cast. I plan to pamper them instead; of course, my family has some plans that they have not yet disclosed. So I am excited about it and looking forward to what surprise is in store.”
