Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino has finally made its way to theaters, and it’s already winning hearts with its fresh storytelling, light-hearted humor, and that perfect mix of emotion and music. As the film continues to enchant audiences, Basu took a moment to share some fun behind-the-scenes stories—including how he managed to get filmmaker Imtiaz Ali to make a brief yet heartwarming cameo.
When asked how he convinced someone like Imtiaz, who’s known for being a bit camera-shy, Basu chuckled, “I didn’t have to do much. I just asked his daughter Ida to talk him into it. And guess what? She did! Imtiaz usually steers clear of the spotlight, but he made an exception this time. He really nailed it, too.”
The director himself also makes an appearance in the film—another delightful surprise for fans. It turns out, it was a bit of playful banter with music maestro Pritam. “Pritam was hesitant to show up on screen this time, so I told him, ‘I’ll be there, you should come too.’ When he decided to back out, I had to keep my end of the bargain!”

This film, a spiritual sequel to Life in a… Metro, brings a fresh vibe, featuring modern stories set against the backdrop of urban life—think metro trains, dating apps, awkward first encounters, and plenty of heart. “It’s definitely more lighthearted than the first one,” Basu mentioned. “I wanted this one to feel more fun and less heavy.”
And while the first half of the film’s soundtrack is already out and buzzing on everyone’s playlists, Basu revealed that Side B is on its way. “We held back a few songs because they really resonate better once you’ve seen the movie. But they’ll be released by the end of the week. Two of the major tracks are still under wraps.”
