The makers of the 2017 political satire, Newton, celebrated the 7th anniversary of their critically acclaimed film. Directed by Amit V Masurkar, the film features Rajkummar Rao in the titular role, along with Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil, and Raghubir Yadav. Known for its sharp narrative and brilliant performances, Newton remains an important commentary on democracy, duty, and the rural voting process in India.
The story follows Newton Kumar, a rookie government clerk on election duty in a Maoist-affected region. Despite the apathy of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and looming guerrilla threats, he strives to conduct fair elections. The film explores issues like corruption and security in conflict zones.
