Priyanka Karunakaran, a renowned model in the Indian and International circuit, has made her much-awaited debut as an actor in the upcoming romantic crime thriller, ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga.’ The movie, directed by Ajay Singh, stars Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal in lead roles and will be released on Netflix this month.
Priyanka plays the role of a South Indian air hostess in the movie, a character that is close to her heart. In real life, Priyanka’s mother served as an air hostess with Air India for 30 years, and she grew up watching her mother getting ready for work with her vanity case in hand. Talking about her role, Priyanka shared, “When I got the script, it made me smile because the director wanted me to have a slight accent, and I am an airline child. It felt like this part was written for me.”
Despite being a debutant, Priyanka has done complete justice to her role. According to director Ajay Singh, “Priyanka is a very honest performer. She is a very hard-working individual and has a lot of attention to detail, which is quite refreshing for a debutant. This was a fairly nuanced role, and she did justice to it.”
Priyanka’s journey to the silver screen was not an easy one. She was unwell with Covid when she was called for an audition and couldn’t make it. It was quite heartbreaking for her, but destiny had other plans. A month later, she got another call, and after a few rounds and a look test, she was finalized for the role.
Priyanka studied theatre and drama at the New York Film Academy, and her passion for acting brought her back to India to enter the world of theatre and modelling. With her debut as an actor, she has proved that she has what it takes to make it big in the industry.
Talking about her experience working with her co-stars, Sunny Kaushal and Yami Gautam, Priyanka said, “Yami is very sweet, and my first scene, in fact, was with her. I do share most of my screen space with her in the film. Sunny is one of the nicest people I’ve known. I was very nervous when I had my first shot with the cast, but he made me feel so comfortable. He has this light energy around him which is infectious.”
‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’ is a romantic crime thriller that revolves around a heist that turns into a hijack. Produced by Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the movie promises to be a nail-biting thriller that will keep the audiences on the edge of their seats.
