One of the good things Covid has taught us is to make us aware of how important it is to take a break for the betterment of our mental and physical health. This is the reason why diet and nutrition have become the order of the day for everyone. Actor turned humanitarian Somy Ali is no different. She shares two nutrition secrets on the occasion of National Nutrition Week that falls between September 1 and September 8. The idea behind this week is to make people aware of the importance of the right, balanced diet and how important it is to develop a good immune system.
“I eat only once a day. Our body does not need three meals a day. My human biology professor broke that down for me in great detail. We do not need to have breakfast, lunch and dinner,” she says.
Explaining her point of view further and how she maintains her food habit, Somy adds, “I only eat lunch and snack on an apple, almonds or bananas if I’m still craving for a little something. I also indulge in a small piece of dark chocolate now and then. However, my lunch consists of proteins and carbohydrates to give me sufficient energy to lift heavy weights. Thus, it’s quite an elaborate lunch and my morning consists of at least 2-3 cups of coffee which I am addicted to without shame,” she adds.
Since she follows a proper exercise regime too, Somy makes sure to not compromise on her food and rest hours. “My workouts are all weightlifting which burn fat and build muscle and that’s precisely what I need at my age,” she ends.
