In a world where the English language often takes center stage, actor Rahul Sharma proudly stands by his love for Hindi. The talented actor, who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry, shares his deep affection for Hindi and the journey he embarked upon, even when faced with skepticism about the language’s role in showbiz.

Rahul Sharma acknowledges that Hindi has always been his first language and a source of comfort for him. He believes in the beauty and richness of the Hindi language, emphasizing how it allows one to convey thoughts and emotions with unparalleled depth and authenticity.

He reflects, “I am a Hindi medium student, so I have a deep affection and love for Hindi. I cherish Hindi because of its beautiful language. When you speak it, can you truly convey your thoughts in this beautiful language? In special situations, English often falls short in allowing one to express themselves fully. When trying to emote, can you find better words in Hindi?”

Rahul Sharma’s journey in the entertainment industry was not without its challenges. He recalls being warned by industry insiders, particularly those involved in casting, that not knowing English might hinder his success in showbiz. He admits that he wasn’t proficient in English at the outset and had to work on his language skills to become proficient. However, he now realizes that English is merely a means of communication.

He passionately states, “Speaking of English, initially, when I was starting in this industry, people told me that those who don’t know English won’t have a successful career. I wasn’t proficient in English at all. I didn’t know how to communicate in English back then, so it took me a while to become proficient. What I realize now is that English is merely a means of communication.”

Rahul Sharma firmly believes that Hindi is a superior language when it comes to expressing emotions and feelings. He sees great pride in using Hindi as a medium of communication and emphasizes its richness in conveying deep sentiments. According to him, Hindi shines brightly when it comes to expression and emoting.

He points out, “We take pride in it. We are well-versed in English movies and can speak the language. However, there’s no inherent pride in speaking English, as it’s not as rich a language as Hindi. There are a few languages in the world that are much richer in expressing emotions and feelings. So, I believe that the beauty of Hindi shines when you need to express and emote.”

Rahul Sharma also challenges the notion that proficiency in English is the sole determinant of success. He highlights the Indian talent for effective communication, shaped by a British colonial legacy. He observes that while English proficiency is an advantage, those who excel in Hindi often excel in various fields, even surpassing English speakers.

He states, “If I look around me right now, I see many talented people who speak Hindi. Even in jobs where professionals use English, they mostly use Hindi when talking about feelings, having fun, or just chatting. English is still not going to be our main language anytime soon. But we should be ready to use it when needed for work or other things. Hindi is still a beautiful and expressive language. I’m really good at Hindi, and it has helped me a lot in shows and other work. Being good at Hindi is an advantage over many English speakers, and I’m proud of it as my national language. So, even if I’m not perfect in English or make mistakes when writing in English, I’m not embarrassed. But if I can’t speak or write good Hindi, even when it’s the main language around me, that would be disappointing.”

Rahul Sharma’s words are a testament to the enduring power and significance of the Hindi language in India’s cultural and emotional landscape. It serves as a reminder that linguistic diversity is a source of strength, and proficiency in one’s mother tongue should always be celebrated and cherished.
