Roshan Kapoor Opens Up About the Pressure of Playing a Funny Character in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2



Roshan Kapoor, the talented actor who portrays Maahir in the popular television show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2, recently shared his experience of playing a comedic character and the pressure that came along with it. He admitted that making people laugh is not an easy task and acknowledged the responsibility of delivering a performance that would entertain the audience.

Being his first show with Balaji, Roshan felt the weight of playing a funny character effectively. He understood the significance of his role, which required a strong screen presence and impeccable comic timing.

Making someone laugh is a challenging endeavor, as it demands the right punch and timing. Additionally, technical issues or fumbling during a scene might necessitate retakes, further emphasizing the need for precise comic timing.


To prepare for his role, Roshan employed various techniques, such as watching comedy shows like Kapil Sharma’s, revisiting classic comedies like Hum Paanch, and studying the works of veteran comic actors like Johnny Lever.

Whenever time was limited, he would watch short comedy videos on YouTube. Roshan also took the initiative to create his own lines in collaboration with the director, ensuring a well-rounded portrayal of his character, Maahir.

Maahir, Roshan’s character in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2, is depicted as a humble individual who remains blissfully unaware of the complexities of the world. He has a profound love for food and easily forms bonds with his family members. Maahir’s affection for Pihu, portrayed by Pooja Banerjee, is evident, and he dreams of marrying her. However, Pihu often teases and insults him, causing setbacks in their relationship. Despite the obstacles, the character has resonated well with the audience, and Roshan is thoroughly enjoying playing Maahir.

Roshan Kapoor’s journey into the entertainment industry has always been a dream of his. From childhood, he developed a passion for acting and received encouragement from his father, who believed in his talent and aspired to see him become a hero. Roshan’s early experiences of participating in school plays and receiving accolades further fueled his desire to pursue acting. While his friends played cricket, he and his companions would imagine shooting films using a construction brick as a makeshift camera. These fond memories and the influence of iconic actor Govinda inspired Roshan to pursue his acting aspirations. Even now, Govinda’s movies continue to be a source of inspiration for him. Roshan also honed his acting skills through four years of theater, including a significant role in a play about Sardar Udham Singh titled Jallianwala Bagh.

Acknowledging the unpredictability of the industry, Roshan understands that sudden replacements, character eliminations, or the end of a show can happen at any moment. However, he believes in going with the flow and living in the present moment. Roshan’s primary focus is to deliver his best work, knowing that good performances today can lead to more opportunities in the future.


Looking ahead, Roshan aspires to explore challenging and diverse roles. While his comedic skills are well-established, he also seeks to venture into more intense and negative characters. With just three years in the industry, he has witnessed changes, particularly in the ease of auditioning. However, Roshan remains committed to his craft and looks forward to the future with optimism, knowing that hard work and dedication will pave the way for further growth and success.
